Mitchell McAuley profile
Mitchell McAuley is an artist who is strongly influenced by the landscape of his native Australia. For the past twenty years he has travelled extensively around Australia using the landscape as the starting point for his large, heavily textured canvases. His passion for the Australian landscape culminated in 1999, when he purchased a farmstead in the outback of northern Victoria and begun dividing his time between the country and Melbourne. The resulting paintings continue his passion for the Australian landscape, incorporating the dazzling blend of colours and textures that McAuley’s work is celebrated for. Mitchell McAuley was born in Melbourne in 1962. He studied painting and printmaking at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Painting in 1984. Mitchell McAuley has had numerous exhibitions throughout Australia, the United States and Hong Kong including solo shows at Motorworks Gallery, Melbourne and Queen Street Fine Art Gallery, Sydney with further exhibitions scheduled in Sydney and San Francisco later this year. Mitchell McAuley’s work can be found in private and corporate collections in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.
