This is the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong ArtWalk, and it remains Hong Kong's biggest charity art event; a great one-night experience showcasing a range of the visual arts in a variety of Hong Kong’s art galleries.
This year, 62 galleries will open their doors between 5 pm to 12 midnight on Wednesday, 17 March 2010 and – after buying an ArtWalk ticket - you will be able to view an array of art, sip wine and enjoy a selection of food in galleries in the SOHO, Wan Chai, Sheung Wan, Central, Aberdeen and Causeway Bay areas of Hong Kong Island.
The ArtWalk benefiting charity for 2010 is, as last year, the Society for Community Organization (SoCO) – last year, a donation to SoCO of HK$477,000 was raised from tickets sold from ArtWalk 2009. Since the first ArtWalk began in 2001 over HK$4 million has been donated to Hong Kong charities.
ArtWalk Extra features additional displays of art that you can also see while walking from gallery to gallery: constructions, objects, small-scale installation, video and performances can be viewed on the street as you walk around ArtWalk. In addition, SoCO will introduce their social action & policy work to ArtWalk participants.
